Aya: Talking to Aya was a lot of fun! Since it was my first interview, I didn't know what to expect, but she was very welcoming. We spoke about her Japanese background and her passion for Japanese culture. I definitely feel like I learned more about her as a person.
Josiah: This was definitely the most thought provoking interview I had so far. We spoke about the origin of consciousness, the structure of government, and why we want to be lawyers in the future. Josiah also helped me understand more about the pledge process as a whole, in terms of the importance of time management and organization.
Narek: Although this interview happened early in the morning, Narek and I definitely had a very energetic conversation. We spoke about his childhood, where he moved across Armenia, Cyprus, and the Middle-East countless times before settling in the USA. I couldn't imagine experiencing so much change as a child. He also told me a lot about Armenian culture and the Armenian community in Los Angeles.
Elaine: My conversation with Elaine covered a wide variety of topics. We spoke about our personal interests - she likes KPop and I had a KPop phase some time ago, but also our professional goals. She also told me about her experience in KAPi so far, and the challenges she faced when we were forced to go online due to Covid. I definitely have a clearer idea of the pledge process after talking to Elaine.
Cia: Cia is one of the funniest and most energetic people I've interacted with since rushing KAPi. Since she was part of the first pledge class that came back in person when school opened up, she told me about how KAPi approached the brotherhood and professional activities in person. We also spoke about my responsibilities as Social Chair in our PC, as she's one of the official Social Chairs for KAPi. I will definitely approach her for any advice I need in the future.

Hanna: Hanna was my first interview for our quota this week. We met at Kerckhoff, and had a very relaxed conversation. Hanna and I spoke about how the pledge process had been going for me and for our pledge class as a whole so far. She reassured me about how its initially difficult for everybody, but eventually you get into a flow and manage to balance your academics with the assignments we receive as pledges. I greatly appreciate her willingness to help, and I look forward to talking to her more.
Megan: Megan and I met at 10 AM to go get coffee in Westwood. Coincidentally, we ordered the same thing, an iced mocha latte. Although I hadn't got the opportunity to properly talk to Megan before this, I felt like she was very easy to talk to. We spoke about our own approaches to day-to-day life, recalled the sports we played in high-school, and shared our gratitude for the opportunity to study at UCLA. After talking to Megan, I could tell that she is a very authentic person. I could sort of relate to the fact that she doesn't get too fazed by things, and is a pretty composed person. I look forward to getting to know her better as we go through the pledge process.
Caroline: Caroline and I met at Kerckhoff and walked down to Bruin Cafe to get some food. My interview with Caroline was definitely on the fun and energetic side. Like me, Caroline is also a member of social Greek life at UCLA. We spoke about how she managed to balance her time with her sorority with Kappa Alpha Pi, and the differences in both communities. We also spoke about our Big/Little weekends.
Zz: Zz and I met at Kerckhoff. This was definitely one of my favorite interviews so far. I hadn't spoken to Zz much before, but after this interview, I felt like I knew her so much better. We spoke about her passion for sexual health and wellness, our career aspirations in the future, the need for educational reform, and more. We also really connected over our shared Southeast Asian culture. I'm excited to talk to Zz again.
Eric: Eric and I met at Kerckhoff. He was my interview of the day, so I thought my social battery would be drained, but Eric was very easy to talk to. He reassured me about the challenges we face during the pledge process, and told me about how those challenges are there to help us grow. We also spoke about video-games and anime. Lastly, Eric and I spoke at length about traveling, and the places that we both wanted to travel to. Overall, I felt very comfortable talking to him.
Chanel: Chanel and I met at the Study at 10 AM. She's definitely one of the best conversationalists I've met at UCLA. I felt like we could talk about just any topic with the same enthusiasm and interest. I shared with her my experience as an international student and the culture shock I initially received moving to the USA. We also spoke about her Farsi and Korean background, and the effects being bilingual has on people's way of thinking. Coincidentally, we'd both been to the same MUN conference in The Netherlands during high-school, which was pretty cool. We also spoke about travel and her love for coffee. I enjoyed my interview with Chanel a lot.
Mihir: My interview with Mihir definitely left me with some food for thought. Ever since the Big/Little Mixer, I've been curious about his perspective on a variety of things. We spoke about stocks, crypto, and NFTs. We also spoke about our career aspirations and long term goals after graduating from UCLA, and I learned that he's aiming to graduate early so that he can start working early, which I found very impressive. Moreover, we shared a similar outlook on the benefits of competition, and I could tell that he's an ambitious person. Even though he won't be here at UCLA for much longer, I hope to have more such conversations with him whenever possible in the future.

We spoke about our shared interest in movies, our experiences with Model United Nations in high-school (he told me a lot of funny stories), and my experience with the pledge process so far. What stood out to me the most was when he told me more about his Armenian culture and the research he's conducting that centers around the importance of diasporas in different places in the world. He also told me about the times he's visited Armenia over the years and how its changed. That part of our interview was truly eye-opening.

Lucas has a great sense of humor. We spoke about his experience rushing Kappa Alpha Pi, and the challenges he faced, which I could relate to. He also told me about his Palestinian background, which I found extremely interesting.
Naomi Haryono: Naomi was only the second person from the Alpha Mu pledge class that I had interviewed so far. We spoke about her professional goals and law school aspirations. In particular, she told me about how her various internships and experience as a legal intern had provided her with clarity on the field of law she wishes to enter. We also spoke about her experience in Kappa Alpha Pi, and the leadership positions that she held, such as Co-Director of Membership Education.

Since he's part of an older pledge class, the Alpha Mu's, he told me about his experience seeing the pledge classes below him grow through their pledge process. He's also extremely helpful and accommodating during Membership Education. He's definitely someone that I and the rest of my pledge class look up to.
