How would I survive a zombie apocalypse? I have honestly thought about this question a lot. As someone who grew up watching the hit AMC Show- "The Walking Dead" with my father as a way of bonding, the zombie apocalypse was a topic which passed my mind quite frequently. I think the first way I would survive is by choosing my survival team. As much as I would love to say that I can survive the zombie apocalypse all by myself, I know it would be a way easier feat if I had a team to support me and to take care of me. I would want a couple people on my team. First, someone who knows how to cook out of nothing. Realistically if I was to be in a zombie apocalypse, I do not think I would have the luxury to pick and choose if I want a kale salad, a smoothie, or a tomato mozzarella sandwich for lunch. So, it would be extremely helpful on the team to have a chef or someone who is proficient in the art of culinary to make sure I am getting all the food I need in a efficient and easy manner. Second, I would have someone that is a good hunter. I hate killing bugs. Even if it is a mosquito who has been bothering me for the last couple of hours and has probably sucked most of my blood stream- I unfortunately just cannot bring myself to kill it. I honestly do not even know why - maybe its the attempting vegan in me. Anyways, it would be nice to have a skilled hunter who is looking out for me so I know that if I was to be in an unsafe situation or an emergency, there is going to be someone watching my back. Third, I would have a close companion or family member. I think often times during television shows or movies regarding the zombie apocalypse, the reason some characters go stir crazy is because they are often left in the company of just simply zombies- trying to manage how to survive on their own without a shoulder of support to lean on. If I have a good friend and ally with me at all times, at least I know that when I do have those moments where I doubt my sanity or my ability to survival, there will always be someone reminding me about the light at the end of the tunnel. And as for me- what would I bring to the team? I think to be honest the ability to be a powerful leader. I think which ever situation I am in, I am can be the voice of reason and aid in helping to bring the group together for a cause. I can be the one they confide in when they are distressed, emotional, hurt, or just need someone to share their feelings to. I think I am a really good listener, and I would be the one on the team who is the emotional supporter and leader of making sure that we are not only listening to our minds, but what our hearts are craving for as well. I think the best way indeed for me to survive the apocalypse would be in a team setting, as everything genuinely is better together with multiple people supporting one another, as supposed to tackling major problems all alone.

I would survive a zombie apocalypse through first finding shelter. I tend to buy food in bulk, specifically non-perishable snacks like cheez-its and popcorn, which I would be able to take with me to the shelter. I would also take a radio, although I am not sure where exactly I would obtain this radio on short notice. I would use this radio for the basic purpose which is outlined in every apocalypse show: to stay in touch with the world around me. I would make my way to my shelter, preferably something indoors and underground. I live in Chicago, so every house is equipped with a basement and/or cellar in case of a tornado. I would use this to my advantage and stay in either my basement (or whichever underground shelter presents itself if necessary). Upon arriving, I would set up a series of trap alarms. I am assuming that power lines and electronic alarms would probably fail, so I would create a web of string attached to a bell, eventually leading down to the basement. This would alert me of anyone who entered my residence so I would have time to prepare. I would also barricade every point of entry, making sure to include the string along each point. I would save the heaviest objects for barricading the inside of the basement door. However, I would also place heavy objects in front of another door, so as to divert the zombies into that room first. Inside that room would be a decoy version of myself. This would consist of multiple pillows and a wig hidden under a blanket. Upon moving the blanket, the zombies will set off a trap which I have previously laid out. This trap would once more consist of a Home Alone style string trap, in which a heavy object will fall onto the zombies upon any perturbation of the blanket. Though I am not currently knowledgeable on how to craft such a trap, I would use youtube in order to prepare myself after the house is barricaded. Once I am confident in the traps and rigging og the main floor, I would head into the basement. In the basement, I would have my non-perishable foods, any weapons I could find. This would include kitchen cutlery, all of my golf clubs, all of my father and sisters’ golf clubs, and any Nerf-brand items (Nerf guns, bow and arrows, etc.) I am able to find in my house. Because my family consists of practicing Jainists who all swore a vow of nonviolence, we do not have many weapons. Still, I will collect anything that I can throw, such as scissors or books, and use those to my advantage. In my basement, we have a library which includes all of my old hardcover textbooks. If necessary, this could serve as a large source of throwing ammo against intruders. Upon hearing any ringing of the bell from the elaborate string set-up I created earlier, I will arm myself with however many weapons I see fit. I will also attempt to stack up objects behind the previously made barricade so as to further prevent any unwanted intrusions. During the time of waiting, I would watch a movie on my projector so as to remain calm and not waste my energy. If the alarm is sounded, and an intruder (zombie) makes it into my space, I would first hide behind the entranceway so as to catch the intruder off guard. Then, I would use the driver golf club, as that is the heaviest club, and go for a head-shot. Zombies are notoriously slow, so I would use my speed to my advantage. In the case of multiple intruders, I would try and obtain higher ground by standing on a table. Though this may seem counterintuitive, as I am cornering myself, I am otherwise short and would need this height in order to fight my attackers more readily. Once my barricade fails, I am vulnerable to further attack. In order to prevent this, I would stack my previous zombie kills outside my door in order to ward off further intruders. In the meantime, I would attempt to contact anyone nearby and temporarily stay in their shelter. If this fails, I would reform my barricades and repeat the process until the apocalypse is over.

Although I have not thought in depth about surviving a zombie apocalypse, I have thought about how I could survive the hunger games, which I believe is pretty similar. In both instances, I would let other people fight it out and have them take care of the problem for me. I guess this could be referred to as playing defense. I would do this by selecting someone to be my ally, someone who is strong, has lots of experience in combat, and someone who would defend me to their dying breath. I could supply our team with the necessary resources needed to survive the apocalypse like food and water and entertainment, as long as my ally was willing and able to defend me while I was acquiring these things. However, I would hope my ally wouldn't provoke a fight unless it was necessary. I've never been much of a physical fighter, and I feel like the best option in a zombie scenario is to let natural selection run its course and have stupid people become zombies and fight each other, hopefully ensuring mutual destruction on both their ends so there is not much left for me to do at the end. However, if this did not work and the zombies were coming for me and my ally, I would have us barricade ourselves into my upstairs attic with enough nourishment and supplies to last us a few days, as well as bring along a long poking device with us. My logic is this: zombies are decaying, unbalanced, and uncoordinated creatures. I cannot imagine that a zombie would be able to climb the old rickety ladder that leads to my attic door, but if they could, I am sure that with the help of my strong ally, we could use the long poking device to push the zombies off of the ladder. Zombies are also stupid creatures, so if we were hiding in the attic with the ladder not in plain sight, I highly doubt the zombies would be able to put two and two together and actually find us in the attic. If worst came to worst and the zombies were able to climb the ladder up to my attic and dodge our fairly large poking device, I would take the swords that my dad has hanging in our attic from his military career and try my best to hack these zombies to pieces. With my ally that is trained in combat, I feel as though we could have a fairly good shot at surviving as zombies, as they are slow and easily confused creatures who probably would not even realize what was going on until it was too late for them to defend themselves or do anything about it. If even this failed and the sword fight did not look like it was going well for me and my ally, my upstairs attic has a window that has a balcony right under the window ledge, and our pool is within fairly close jumping distance of the balcony ledge. I would simply jump out of the window onto the balcony, jump from the balcony into the pool, and since zombies cannot swim, this would hopefully be enough to throw them off for a long enough time so that I could make my escape.

How would you survive a zombie apocalypse?
I believe that this is a question that everybody has thought of, or spoken about, at least once during their lifetime. My guiding principle for surviving an apocalypse would be PRWF: protection, rescue, water, and food.
Starting off with protection, it’d be important to find a stronghold that I’m confident in. A military fortress would be ideal, but that’s probably unrealistic, so a large house would work, if it met the following conditions. Firstly, it would have to contain an underground basement or bunker, in case the house ever got overloaded with zombies, or there were too many roaming outside. This bunker would be stocked with food, water, and essential items like flashlights and batteries. Secondly, the location of the house would be of prime importance. I would definitely pick a house that is not backed up by a wall on any side, because that would make it easier for zombies to surround you. Thirdly, the house should ideally have some natural cover to distract zombies, but not too much that you’d be unable to spot one coming towards you. It is imperative that the house has multiple escape routes that are easily accessible from the inside in case the zombies get inside. On the more offensive side of protection, it would be important to stock up on different types of weaponry in the early days of the apocalypse while it’s still possible to source them. Close range melee weapons such as machetes and combat knives should be around me or on my person at all times. It goes without saying that one of the most important resources for surviving the apocalypse would be access to guns. I would definitely keep at least two firearms on me at all times, such as a handgun and a mid-range assault rifle. While having a stronghold is important, it’s also important to move around on scouting missions, so that you can keep account of the zombies around you and the presence of human beings that could need help. For transport, an SUV that can travel on mud roads would be necessary.
The next factor to consider would be rescue. In my opinion, this is the least important aspect of my guiding principle, and should only be executed for a stranger if I’m absolutely sure that I have a reasonable chance at survival. This is largely due to the fact that strangers might be hiding an infection. As such, I would prefer to stay in a small, compact group of no more than 6-7 people, to maximize our chances of rescuing each other, moving swiftly, and not fighting for resources.
Next, and most likely the key to survival, is having access to food and water. I think it’d be too dangerous to go to large stores and markets for two reasons: firstly, zombies would be attracted to places that are often frequented by humans, and I could get trapped inside, and secondly, there would probably be a lot of humans trying to raid commercial stores, so competition would be high, and would lead to infighting between humans. For these reasons, I would stick to raiding abandoned houses and hunting in the forest. As such, I’d prefer for my base to be located in a suburban or rural area rather than a metropolitan area with no access to wildlife and lots of humans for zombies to target. Being near a natural water source such as a lake or a river would be ideal too, as I could access it from different points, and swim across it to escape from zombies. I’d also stay away from wells because the water in them could already be infected.
Ultimately, remaining calm and consistent under pressure would decide whether I live or die. I would try my best to stick to the rules I’ve created, and keep up my physical fitness in my spare time through exercise in order to stay in shape for escapes and combat. Here’s to hoping I survive the apocalypse.

In a zombie apocalypse, I doubt I would survive long enough to see humanity adapt and establish a safe camp or refuge. Despite knowing this, I would try my best to survive as long as possible though, purely because I possess the instinct of self-preservation. Assuming that the zombies spread their condition by biting others (as they’ve done in basically every zombie movie), I would bandage my limbs and torso with tape, cloth, and anything else that I can wrap around me. This would serve to protect me even if I were bit at any point in time. Of course, the wraps would have to be thick but also thin enough to allow for movement and mobility. After wrapping as much of my body as possible, I’d definitely try to find a source of water or shelter. For shelter, I’d plan to get a tent and a sleeping bag. I’d definitely rush to a store that sells camping supplies and try to get a large backpack, tent, sleeping bag, water bottle with a filter, a lighter, and non-perishable food. Those supplies, and a radio or satellite phone, would be my top priority. With the large backpack and tent, I could either settle in a safe place for a long period of time (if possible) or travel when needed. Although these are the most important supplies, I would also try to find a book on edible plants, a weapon (a large knife/machete to protect myself), and a flashlight. I feel like those are also necessities for protection against nature and zombies or humans with ill-intent. Although supplies are important, I think that finding a group of capable people would be just as, if not more important, to my survival. I honestly don’t possess great survival skills, having never joined the Girl Scouts or anything similar, so having a group of people that know what they’re doing would be integral to my survival. Even if I couldn’t find anyone that was well-versed in survival, I would stick to people that are quick thinkers, good decision makers, and those that work well under extreme pressure. I would prefer these people over those that initially possessed a lot of supplies but no knowledge as to what to do with those supplies or those that hoard supplies for the sake of denying them to others. I think finding a competent group of people to trust would be crucial to one’s survival in a zombie apocalypse. Honestly, I don’t think that I’m physically fit enough to survive a zombie apocalypse because I have not been going to the gym consistently lately. I also don’t think I would be able to fight off a zombie if they came close enough to fight me so I would likely employ an avoidant strategy in order to bolster my chances of survival. I would definitely learn how to hide or walk as quietly as possible in order to avoid as many confrontations as possible. If a zombie ever did get within 5 feet of me, the most likely outcome would be that I get overpowered and infected. In the end, I think I am ill prepared for an apocalypse but that I will try my best to survive.

How would I survive a zombie apocalypse?
I think my first survival strategy would be to Join forces with any other survivors. I think this step is going to be crucial for so many reasons. One, there is safety in numbers. Hear me out, the more people there are means you have more people to look out for danger, more people, to prepare and look for food, more people to fight against zombies, and just, in general, you will have people to socialize with because I think being alone in a situation as traumatizing as a zombie apocalypse would be impossible to do alone. Personally, I think my chances of surviving a zombie apocalypse are pretty high simply because of the 3 seasons of the walking dead. So similarly to the show, I think my next survival tactic would be to find a base where my community and I would live. I would try to make sure that our community is in a location that has access to things like food, water, and medical equipment. I think it would be nice to go somewhere like Bel Air only because they have really nice homes that are large enough for many people to stay in so we would not have to worry about being overcrowded. I also think that living in the home of rich people would just be really fun to experience because I’m sure they will have plenty of random activities for us to take part in like bowling, swimming, or even go-kart racing. I’m sure one of those houses will have at least one of these activities. Personally, I think that if we still have the opportunity to engage in “regular” activities will help us keep some sense of sanity during this time because while the apocalypse will be a huge part of our daily lives, being able to take a break or just stepping away from that reality could be therapeutic. I also feel like residing in a community like Belair would be in our best interest because not only is it a large space but it’s also secluded and closed off to the public. So it would be harder for zombies to invade especially with the gates around the entire area because we all know zombies are too dumb to think to climb up gates. Plus an area like Belair would have so many cameras that we could monitor at all times to ensure that we are always safe. This brings me to my next survival tactic which would be to assign community roles so that responsibilities will be evenly distributed and our community will function similarly to regular society. I would probably task myself with some sort of teaching role where I would look over the youth. I know this task might not seem very vital at this time which I somewhat understand and partly why I would want to do it. I know that personally, I would not be able to be responsible for going into the city to collect resources to collect supplies because if I spot a zombie I start freaking out which would only probably attract more zombies. I would not be able to be in charge of protecting the community from zombie intruders for similar reasons because similar to the other role I would not be able to fight off zombies and I would probably only attract more which would do more harm than good to my community. Therefore, a simple task like educating the youth would be the perfect task. In the end, I think having a community that functions in an organized manner would be my strategy for surviving the zombie apocalypse.

How would I survive a zombie apocalypse? This is a question that I have thought of a few times. As a kid I used to be terrified of horror movies specifically zombies, so I never thought about the topic that carefully in the past. Recently I have slowly started getting over the past fears and started to think about this problem more critically. I think that the two most important things to consider when preparing for a zombie apocalypse would be location and the people that you are with. I think that I would chose the location of my current home for a place to stay. I live about 20 minutes by car away from the closest center of civilization on a large ranch with absolutely no neighbors. I think that this would be the perfect spot because not only would I be far away from population centers( and therefore potential zombies), but I would also have a bunch of my own food from the ranch. We have a large garden with fruit trees, vegetables, chickens, sheep, cows, etc... All of this would prove to be incredibly useful when trying to stay off the grid and not go to cities infested with zombies. Beyond this I would want to be with a close knit group of friends. I think one of the main reasons people die in zombie movies is because they go crazy being all alone, or set off on a journey to meet up with their family/friends. By having all my friends and family with me at the ranch, then I would be happy to stay on the property and would have no incentive to go away on an adventure to find anyone else. Having people who I enjoy around me would greatly increase my quality of life and would help me stay sane during what Im sure would be an absolutely terrifying event. I believe that having my friends and a good location that can provide food and allow us to be self sustainable would be great and help me to survive throughout the appocalypse. In addition to these two factors I would also consider other defenses. I would see if we could invest in a solar panel or some other form of renewable energy that could help us operate some lights and potentially some sensors that can help us detect potential zombies approaching. We would also invest in several traps that would help prevent the zombies from getting to us. We could build some trenches that would keep the zombies from getting to us because they would fall into the trench. We could also build a wall around our base to try and keep zombies out, they're generally pretty dumb so I dont think that they would be able to figure out how to get through a trench and a wall. If somehow they managed to get through all these defenses, then we would have some swords, shovels, and other methods of self defense to protect ourselves as a final stand against the horde. If all else fails, we would try to hide somewhere on the ranch and hope that we survive.

I am more than ready to survive a zombie apocalypse. My first objective would definitely be to get out of the city and any type of populated area. When I was younger, I remember watching a YouTube video that discussed the best places to move to if an apocalypse broke out. There were a few factors to consider, but the most important came down to low population density, a reliable freshwater source, and the weather. Especially when it comes to weather, I have to make sure it is cold enough to kill insects that could possibly spread the zombie-inducing virus, but also not bad enough where I could not grow crops on the land. In the same video, the YouTuber discussed that Norfolk County in Ontario, Canada would be the best place to move to. Additionally, he quoted an Ivy-League study conducted that stated it would likely take roughly 1000 hours for the virus to affect the entirety of the United States. This means I would have more than enough time to figure out how to make my way from California to Canada. If I cannot go to Canada, I would likely find another place to hide out within the hills or out in the ocean on a boat.
My next goal would be to find shelter. Houses made of things like wood would likely be easily destroyed by a mob of zombies. In consequence, I would have to find a building made up of concrete or brick. After I have settled, I would immediately begin to board up all of the windows, doors, fireplaces, and any other possible entrances into the area. I would then barricade all the doors with furniture to add some additional support. Though it is not essential, I would likely try to make my space as “homey” as possible for the sake of my mental sanity. Howver, I would make sure not to be too comfortable because I would likely constantly be on the move.
Next, I would begin going out to look for personal suppliesfor my emergency bag. I would raid stores within low-populated areas in hopes of retrieving canned foods, clothes, medical supplies, medicine, and any type of communication device in hopes to get in touch with other survivors. Additionally, things like blankets, pillows and portable heaters would be nice. I would then make my way over to both a sports store - like Dick’s Sporting Goods - and a gun/hardware store in hopes that I can get weapons and gear to protect myself.
Lastly, I would create several strategies in order to increase my likelihood of survival. For example, in most zombie-related films, survivors cover themselves in zombie flood or rotting flesh to mask their scent since smell is the biggest indicator to a zombie of whether or not an individual is living. Individuals have even walked with heards of zombies without being eaten when they mask their scent. Additionally, I will always choose to run or hide from a zombie before I choose to fight - fighting should always be a last resort option. Lastly, while I would enjoy being around others, I would only have a select few people around me. During these times, people are likely to go rogue and turn against each other. For the sake of my survival, the fewer the people I am around, the better.

How would I survive a zombie apocalypse? To be quite honest, I probably wouldn’t. I am definitely one of the first people to die in a horror movie, I can very much be a ditzy brunette sometimes. However, if it were to happen, I would need to know the exact details of the zombies’ abilities. Are these zombies fast or slow? Can they sense human flesh or do they just wander around hoping to find someone unlucky? If it is the latter, then it will be a breeze. I would hope and anticipate that the zombies would be dumb, slow, and weak. In this hopeful case, I would say my best safe haven would be UCLA. There are dining halls, restaurants, and stores all over campus and the hill. There are water fountains inside housing buildings, you don’t even have to leave. If necessary, you could make your lounge a storage room for food, as well as other vital items. Another benefit of staying at UCLA would be the number of hiding places. There are huge buildings everywhere, with many doors you can hide behind. You would even be able to create a strategy where whenever you are getting chased you lose them by going into one of the many rooms. Not to mention, in the dorms, most of the doors are metal. They are not easily broken into. I also know my way around campus particularly well, and I have great navigation skills, that counts for something. In regards to forming an alliance, I would only have my most trusted people in my circle. I believe loyalty is far more important in these situations as compared to brawn. Besides, I have all the brawn a woman could need. The only downside to having a small team would be that, if it came to it, it would be difficult to fight larger teams. I believe that other teams would pose a much larger threat than the zombies. However, again, larger teams are more likely to break up and conspire against themselves. Hence why a small, loyal team is more capable. Less people to reason and negotiate with, more food to partition, easier to organize, etc.
However, if we are considering a situation where the zombies are intelligent and faster, I would have a completely different plan. Despite my hometown not having the resources as easily accessible as UCLA does, it does have other vital resources and opportunities. Firstly, my dad is a huge history geek. This meaning he has tons of weird stuff in the house: armor, swords, maces, etc. My house is on a mountain, which is a great advantage to have. I know my hometown like the back of my hand. I also know the supermarket layout very well, in case I need to make a run for it. There is a Costco nearby, which could double as a second base. There is the Hansen Dam and the Pacoima Dam which are relatively close, potentially walking distance. I could use these for water supply, if necessary, as well as flat ground. Being home means I have my family as my team. It is slightly difficult because I have a lot of little siblings, but I also have two older sisters that could help my parents. There is also the possibility of forming alliances with neighbors and close family friends. My parents help people with taxes, so we have a lot of potential allies. My older sister and I have taken many self defense classes, my sister having three black belts. She knows her way around a weapon, I can say that much.
Again, I probably wouldn’t survive a zombie apocalypse, so let’s hope one doesn’t happen soon.

Surviving the zombie apocalypse starts now. I have to start getting my body ready. The best way to do this is by doing hard core cardio. If I can outrun my friends then I am safe. Zombies are fairly slow so I have to keep a steady pace of 10 miles per hour. I am gone!! like a road runner. My next steps are to not get infected. So I will have minimal exposure to the outside. I will only go outside with a football helmet and baseball bat to defend myself. This armor plus my out of the ordinary speed for sure puts me at an advantage.
When going out on my outdoor adventure is to find food. My strategy for this is to go into the stores and take the canned items. Canned foods are non-perishable and easy to transport in the case I need. My top go to canned food will be beans, spam, peanut butter, noodle soups, beef stews, and more. This is the best option as they are easy to pair with other items. With the peanut better I can go a while eating carbs which will help me in gaining muscle while I actively train when going to get food. The beans can go with any meal and are easily prepared. My strategy is minimal cook prep time. Having small amounts of time to eat allows me to stay prepared in my shelter.
My shelter would be at my house back home with my family. Each family member will have a role in the house. As the oldest daughter I am helping make sure everyone is safe. My main role would be door patrol. I would barrack ourselves in order using the wood that is in my backyard and put it on the inside of our house. It would be on the inside so that I have access to leave when I need to provide more food for my family. My partner in crime would be my sister. Together no zombie will ever get us or my family. Besides helping me defend our home she will be an assistant cook to my mom. My dad is in charge of the Family Disaster Plan. Splitting up the work allows for a higher rate of survival. I know that incase of a zombie apocalypse I would be with my family. In his plan we would all make sure that we have at least one bag packed with all the materials needed. We also have a route to take in case we have to move locations like going to my aunts house 2 streets over. Besides a car we make sure to have our bikes in case gas is not available to us. Along my journey I will make sure to mind my business and help no one besides family. While traveling to my family my survival kit will include first aid, water bottles, flashlights and extra batteries. Overall I think I have a solid chance of surviving the zombie apocalypse.

I have never thought about how I would survive a zombie apocalypse before. My first thought is that I would want to get as much gasoline as I could for my car. Then I would want to get a bunch of food and water, and a gun with a lot of ammo for a long road trip. Ideally I would get my family to come in the car with me to a secluded area with an abundant source of drinkable water. Somewhere probably near the mountains with a fresh water lake. We would have to get some seeds for crops like corn and beans and vegetables to start a sustainable farm. We would also get some livestock like pigs and chickens and cows for food and milk and eggs. We would probably need a decent amount of lumber and nails to build fences and maybe a house. Hopefully we could come across an abandoned one instead though since I don’t think anyone I know is really an architect or a construction worker. After we initially set up our farm and started making the food, we would then need to focus on fortifying the defenses of the farm. That reminds me we also would come up with a really cool name for the farm. I can’t think of anything now but naming it is a very important aspect of the plan. Hopefully the zombie apocalypse would not start during the Winter because farming is a lot harder then. We would definitely start to stockpile food for the colder months of the year when you can’t grow anything. I would also really want to have a family of cats and dogs to live on the farm. Their main function would just be to improve the morale of the group. We would always keep the car handy for excursions into the rest of the world, and in case the farm ever got overrun by zombies our last escape would be in the car to find a new spot for a new farm. We would keep it stocked with food, water, and weapons all the time in the vent of a quick getaway. That reminds me, hopefully there would be a weapons and ammunition store nearby for all of this since neither me nor anyone in my family owns any firearms. We would be mostly friendly to other people if they happened to stumble across the farm. Like we would definitely defend it and kill other people if they were being hostile, but as long as our resources were abundant enough we would accept people who didn’t have a place to stay. I know that’s usually a bad idea in apocalyptic movies but I think it’s worth the risk to be a good person. After we were set up on the farm, I think we would just try and live there peacefully until we eventually die either from old age or being eaten by zombies. I know it's a bit of a depressing ending but I feel like there is only so much you can do in that situation.

The zombie apocalypse is something I think about often, especially during these last couple of years; my seventh grade biology teacher always said she thought the apocalypse would start due to some super lethal virus strain. With this in mind it is no surprise that the COVID pandemic would bring these thoughts to the forefront of my mind. In my imagination there are three ways I see the apocalypse playing out for me and two are even more fantastical than assuming the apocalypse would happen in the first place. The first is that when the day of the apocalypse arrives, I or a very close friend of mine will have assumed a vast wealth. Using these resources to my advantage, I will have predicted the zombie apocalypse and thus constructed an apocalypse bunker stocked with the supplies I would need to survive and sustain a new society where the zombies could not reach. This shelter may be a bunker or perhaps an Avengers-style flying aircraft carrier where we would be safe from the catastrophe on the surface. In the second version that I see this playing out in my mind, I somehow become a guerilla warfare ruthless zombie killer with a tragic backstory. The details of the tragic backstory are unknown because if I know it then there is some way that I can prevent it from happening. This new cruel world will have hardened me into a ruthless zombie killing machine who trusts only a small group of people. This group and I would travel together only looking out for each other and surviving each day as if the next is not promised. Our story is completely original and definitely not pulled from the script of any zombie movie ever. We will live in an abandoned mansion on the top of the Hollywood Hills where we can survey the area and hold the high ground for strategic defense. In this world I imagine the zombies to be rather aggressive and agile creatures to provide an obvious challenge for defense. We had raided an old military base for supplies and we planted a large garden to allow us to sustain ourselves. Our leader would be a wise old lady who lost her arm fighting to save an orphanage when the apocalypse started. While she had once been the best fighter of our whole crew, now she planned our strategies for navigating the unforgiving world. A group of skilled survivalists and warriors would trek long distances to find other survivors and bring them back to our encampment in the hills. Whenever a new group of humans are brought back to us, they would have to earn our trust and prove their worth to our efficient society. If and only if they could do so, could they join our community with open arms. In reality however I am not a very tough person and I have yet to meet a very wealthy benefactor. I would hopefully survive the breakout of the apocalypse, but my uneasy stomach and spoiled upbringing would eventually get the best of me and I would be left as a feast for the zombies.

First and foremost, I have chronic asthma and do not think I would last long in a zombie apocalypse. But in this scenario, I would probably call my girlfriend and family first to plan a meet up location. The location would probably be at a family relative’s house that is far enough from a mass population. Then I would head over to Costco and take any necessary supplies needed. As well as go to Big five to gather supplies like large knives and massive guns. And I’d honestly take anything and perhaps take as many inhalers from a pharmacy. Ultimately my goal is to find a boat and take my closest friends and family to be away from any zombies. For when we are on the boat, I would probably sail to the country of canada because they seem like nice people. As for tactics to keep the zombies away, I would use my basic skills of taekwondo and little knowledge I have attained from my one experience at a shooting range. Besides the physical aspects of keeping the zombies away, I would choose the weapon of a large machete to slash all the zombies that come near. In the instance I would need to use a gun, I wouldn't even use it. As I would prefer a crossbow like Daryl Dixion from the Walking Dead which is one of my favorite televised shows. For snacks during this zombie apocalypse, I will be foraging some wild berries along local shrubs and hope they are not poisonous. If they are, I’ll grab some hydrocortisone cream and triple antibiotic ointment for any rashes I get. As for the bathroom situation, I will need to make my own homemade baby wipes because I can’t live without them when freshening up. Continuing on, I would shave my entire body and become hairless so I don’t have to shampoo anything when it comes showering. Honestly during a zombie apocalypse I would not even think of showering. But rather preserve any water I can for food purposes. I would also try to grow my own organic crops as it can be self sustainable. Ultimately I would do anything to survive but consume my own bodily excrements. I would also go as far as being one with the zombies. Like Carol Peletier from the walking dead, I would camouflage myself so I can walk freely outside in open spaces without the fear of getting bit. I have practiced my zombie walk and noises, so I do believe I would blend in perfectly. Not to flex but, I was a zombie for halloween in the third grade and have been told by others I was very convincing. Overall, I do not necessarily have a detailed plan for if and when there may be a zombie apocalypse. But I do have enough willpower to do anything it takes to survive to some extent. Ultimately in situations like these, I go with my gut to make certain decisions. Honestly my natural instincts are what I believe will help me survive.

Ever since the hunger games came out I’ve been a big fan of Katniss’ strategic plan. She chose to hide while letting natural selection do its thing with the first few and she only decided to join the battle when absolutely necessary. That is a smart queen who knows its better to simply think smarter, not harder >> Anyways, ever since I’ve thought about how I’d survive in situations like the hunger games, someone breaking into my house, or even a zombie apocalypse, so I’ve given this question quite some thought. If I were to be caught in a zombie apocalypse I would for sure use Katniss’ natural selection plan. I think at the beginning I would try to find a secure hiding spot (preferably an underground bunker that is secretly hidden… where am I gonna find this bunk? I have absolutely no idea, that's not part of the question prompt). But step one would be to find a good hiding spot. Once I’ve found one I’d make sure I’d have enough dry and (hopefully) fresh food (enough for at least a month preferably enough for 3). Once collecting all food items I’d lock myself in my secretspot for as long as the food would last. In an ideal world I’d have majority of the people I love at my hiding spot with me (but I’m pretty sure this scenario is not an ideal world) however, I recognize that would take a lot more food to find and store, but we would have the man-power to hunt for that much food so I think it could work. I’d spend as much time as possible in my secret spot, allowing natural selection to do its thing and take out as many people as possible. Once I’ve run out of food I’d come out of hiding and hopefully by then zombies wouldn't roam around in large numbers, making it easy to kill and fight off if necessary. I’d take my family on the road and travel to a safe haven (if there was one established, if not we’d travel to a safe destination where would set up a safe haven for the rest of the population that hasn't been infected) the bigger the community, the bigger the protection and handling of resources. In this safe heaven we would all assume roles to keep our small society of sane people flourishing and protected. Various people would have different positions, one is agriculture, one is architecture, one in medicine, one in food handling/cooking, potentially one is child care. All these positions would help keep our small society alive long enough to hopefully outlive the apocalypse and eventually begin a race of sane humans so we could f**k it up all over again, just in a different way this time <3. I know this plan is sort of not well thought out, but I’m thinking in the context of an ideal world. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to execute such a perfect plan in a real life zombie apocalypse, which is why I’m glad it's all planned out in my perfect little world that’s in my head.

To survive a zombie apocalypse, I’d need to do two things: gather the necessary supplies for survival and get as far from the rest of civilization as possible ( go into the woods). Although zombies would be nearly inescapable, as people have died everywhere, the most populated areas will become the biggest threats to survival as the infection will spread fastest in densely populated areas. So, I would move North to an area with barely any people. Having some neighbors can be a useful tool in assessing and monitoring the area around for you/ trading resources, however, they would also be kept at a distance (in case things go awry). When gathering supplies, it is important to keep in mind basic necessities, as well as protective gear. Therefore, I would gather supplies such as: a good water filtration kit, a first-aid kit, a small amount of non-perishable foods, a compas, a winter coat, blanket, bowl and fork, and a bike. If zombies are drawn to noise, then using a bike would be a much safer option than a car. A bike would allow you to move in between much smaller areas than cars do. They also are a lot quieter than cars. I would get a bike with a basket as well so that I could hold supplies easier. In addition to these things, I’d also get: an army shovel (small, easily folded), running shoes, hunting knife, a bow and arrows, cloth to patch up wounds, tool kit, and leathery/tough clothing. Leathery/tough clothing will help mitigate any attack a zombie may throw at me because it’ll be harder to bite into the leather. Also, I think a bow and arrow is the best weapon for a zombie apocalypse because: it doesn’t make sound, you are able to use it far from your target, and arrows are more reusable/ easier to make than it is to obtain more ammunition. If possible, I’d also try to make a trip to a bookstore or scavenge for any books that focus on basic survival tips, edible plants/flowers, and basic first-aid knowledge. I am not knowledgeable on any of these things, therefore having these books would give me something to do during the apocalypse and better prepare me for it. In addition to these things, I would try to move somewhere close to a freshwater source, and I’d want to camp somewhere in a tree if possible. While ground shelter is more viable, I think finding shelters in trees eliminates any fear of zombies creeping up on you while you sleep. For this reason, I’d also bring a rope so I wouldn’t fall out of the tree while half asleep. From my little nest in the tree, I’d use a pair of binoculars to see who is coming (dead or alive) so that I am always prepared. The zombie apocalypse would give me a chance to build a successful treehouse that my survival will largely depend on because it’d be much harder for zombies to reach. If these zombies are capable of climbing, I may install a zipline that will take me to another safe tree so that I may escape (if the zombies are about to overthrow my treehouse).
