QUOTA 1: Narek Shakelian: Narek was my first active I interviewed, and I genuinely enjoyed the interview so much. We got to bond over our cultures and families, as we are both children of immigrants and were born in countries outside of the United States. We also discussed our shared love of reading books about different cultures, and he even gave me some good book recommendations that I will definitely be buying in the future. I really enjoyed my time with Narek and I learned so much about globalization, world policy, and culture, which I am extremely grateful for.

QUOTA 1 Cia Evangelio: I met Cia early in the morning, and it was definitely a great way to start the day! We were able to find a seat inside Kerkhoff Coffee House, and she brought me this delicious boba mochi snack, which I absolutely adored. We talked about what it is like to be a woman of color in a legal or professional setting and how often time women have to work twice as hard to get even half of the recognition. We also talked about what it is like to grow up as a child of an immigrant, and how to balance our culture's expectations with our own expectations of ourselves. All in all, I really enjoyed talking to Cia and would love to talk to her again professionally.

QUOTA 1 Saba Salehifar: I met Saba in the afternoon today, and we started off at the Bruin Bear statue and worked our way up to Royce Hall, talking and bonding the entire time. I learned that she was a junior transfer and how her previous college led her to UCLA, as well as how her experience has been at UCLA thus far. We talked about how we are both dying to study abroad, and she wants to go to Paris, while I want to study in Singapore. We also talked about the importance of culture and language, and how she knows almost four languages, which is so commendable! Saba also recommended me a really good sandwich shop, which I most definitely will be trying this weekend.

QUOTA 1 Lucas Ajalat: I met Lucas this morning, and it was such a good way to start the morning! We started off at the steps and walked all the way to the Anderson School of Management, where, surprisingly, my next class was! I talked to Lucas a couple times during rush and coffee chats, but I really got the privilege of talking to him about a plethora of subjects today one-on-one. We talked about short-term goals, advice about making time to work out during the pledge process, and the subject of philosophy compared to religion. I have never met a philosophy major before, so it was really nice to hear his point of view on the subject, and it has definitely inspired me to take more philosophy classes in the future!

QUOTA 1 Akunnia Akubuilo: I met Akunnia today at "Just Boba"—a boba shop in Westwood which she had actually taken me to after our bid dinner. I was doing a double interview with Julianna as well, which was my first double thus far. I really enjoyed doing a double because we both asked Akunnia different questions, and really got to know her personality as well as her experience with being an active. We talked about our opinions on the retreat this past week, as well as the different dynamics of the respective families we are in. It is always a pleasure to talk to Akunnia, and I cannot wait to see her next.

QUOTA 2: Iris Hong: I met with Iris today over Zoom-my first online interview! I was a little scared going into the interview because I did not know if we would be able to connect the same way online as we would have if we were in person, but I was very very wrong. I had such an incredible time talking to Iris- we talked about a plethora of topics. First, I asked her about her position as Kappa Alpha Pi's secretary, and also found out that she was actually the secretary of her pledge class as well! She gave me a lot of good advice on how to be efficient and organized with my minutes and attendance, and I will definitely implement all of her tips and advice going forward with my minutes for next week.

QUOTA 2: Anita Ramasastry: I met with Anita on Thursday at Deneve, and the interview went really well! I had met her briefly during the retreat, so it was really nice to sit down one-on-one with her and be able to have a conversation. We started off by talking about our families. I learned how she is not musically inclined, but her younger sister is extremely talented musically, and plays many instruments. I learned that Anita had known she was an artist since she was a little girl, and she used to draw all over the walls of her house. I also learned that she started to play golf because a man told her that golf was "not a woman's sport," so she went home and taught herself how to play golf by watching YouTube videos. All in all, I had so much fun talking to Anita, and I would love to talk to her again soon!

QUOTA 2: Aneri Parikh: I met with Aneri this morning at Kerkhoff Coffee House, and it was such a great way to start off the day! We started talking about living in New Jersey and leaving our families to go to UCLA, how the experience regarding that was, and how especially during overwhelming times we wished we lived closer to home. Then she told me about her funny experiences about her time at a Law Firm in Beverly Hills, as well as managing working at a law firm and working for Anderson School of Management as an event planner, as well as being part of so many organizations on campus. Aneri is literally so inspirational and so dedicated to her work, and I genuinely learned so much from her.

QUOTA 2: Ira Phatak: I met Ira at Tongva Steps, and it was so nice to be able to have an interview outside in the fresh air after being inside for classes all day. We talked about her job at the Undergraduate Writing Center, as well as her last two classes she is currently taking at UCLA—an International Development Class and a Political Science Class—which both sounded so cool! She also shared with me that she hates cheese which I found so surprising because cheese is such a popular food item, but then I told her that I hate potatoes, so she was equally surprised. All in all, I really enjoyed my interview with Ira, and I hope to talk to her again soon!

QUOTA 2: Naomi Haryono: I met Naomi back at Kerchoff and instantly complimented her shirt because I realized I had the same exact one in two different colors because I loved it so much. She was so sweet and she told me about her summer break plans, and we both shared that we were itching to go to Europe. She also then told me about her time in the International Developmental Studies Major, as I am in Global Studies, and the two are very similar. Based on our conversation, I could tell she was extremely passionate about the major, and I will definitely look into it to see if I could pick it up as a minor. All in all, I loved my conversation with Naomi so much that I look forward to meeting her again soon!

QUOTA 2: Vidya Patel: I met Vidya at Kerkhoff, and I had such a fun time talking to her. We realized we were twinning (both were wearing green shirts and black bottoms) and knew it was meant to be. She taught me so much about the economics major and the classes I should take and the ones I should avoid, which was so helpful. It is really nice to talk to someone who is also double majoring in economics as she understood my worry regarding class load and managing all of my work. We also bonded over the fact that we are out of state students, and we realized we live an hour and a half away which is so cool! I loved talking to Vidya and I hope to talk to her again soon!!

QUOTA 2: Kylie Nakamoto: I met Kylie outside of Anderson Cafe before my Accounting class, and it was a great way to start my Tuesday! I learned all of her favorite drinks she makes at Kerkhoff-I will most definitely be getting the Matcha with Chai next time I go. We also talked about how she spent her time living in her sorority house, as that is where I will be living next year, so I wanted to learn all about the inside scoop. She also told me about her experience during the pledging process and the tips she recommends to manage my time wisely between classes and pledging. All in all, I really enjoyed talking to Kylie and hope to see her soon!

QUOTA 3: Mira Khosla: I met Mira at Kerkhoff this evening before the Pledge-Alumni Mixer, and it was honestly really great. I was stressed about some issues in my personal life prior to the interview, but honestly, talking to Mira was really refreshing and put me in such a better mood. We talked about her time in Kappa Alpha Pi, as she rushed in her fall freshman year and is now in her third year. She is also in the same sorority as me, so it was really interesting to talk to her about managing Chi Omega and Kappa Alpha Pi, and also having other extracurriculars besides fraternities/sororities. All in all, it was genuinely a great interview!

QUOTA 3: Hanna Sato: I met Hanna originally at BPlate, but as soon as I shook her hand, she told me she had checked the BPlate menu beforehand and it looked awful, so we mutually agreed to go to the study, which is always a safe option. I ordered waffles and she ordered a yummy sandwich, and then we found a nice spot and spent the rest of the time talking about a variety of topics. I learned that she shares the same passion that I have for skiing, and was actually on a ski team and was a ski instructor. She also told me about her love for going to the gym, and how she prefers LA Fitness in Westwood because there are so many more machine options, which I totally agree with. All in all, I had a wonderful interview with Hanna, and I hope to talk to her again soon!

QUOTA 3: Ria Debnath: I met Ria at the study, and I had a great interview with her! We talked about what it was like to go to UCLA as an out-of-state student and the guilt associated sometimes with leaving our families behind. We also talked about Ria's mock trial experience. As I had never done a mock trial before, I was very eager to learn about Ria's time in mock trial, as she has done it for almost 6 years now. She taught me some great tips and gave excellent advice, which I am definitely very eager to implement in my mock trial work this week!
