Quota 15 (Jenn): I interview Jenn yesterday afternoon. I enjoyed being able to discuss our shared love for being outdoors and how we both agree that the scenery of Los Angeles hikes is not as good as they are hyped up to be. My favorite part of our conversation was getting to discuss the shared identity process that growing up as the children of immigrants has given us. We bonded over feeling "too American" for our ethnic group, but "too ethnic" for the places in America we were raised in. I overall really loved getting to interview her with Juliana and look forward to getting to know her more in the future.

Quota 16 (Mihir): I got to interview Mihir yesterday afternoon. We talked a lot about the pledging process, he even shared with me his experience as a pledge. I got to talk about my love for true crime and my contradicting fear of horror/scary films - to which he responded with his own personal recommendations as he loves the world of horror. I also got to talk with him about his time growing up in Texas and the key differences between living there vs in California. He was very easy to make conversation with and I truly look forward to getting to know him more in the future.

Quota 17 (Max): I doubled with Korra for our interview with Max. Although Max is only a third year, she is clearly wise beyond her years because of the many experiences she had. She explained to us the complicated story of her college admissions process - we were similar as we both applied to UCLA randomly without fully realizing the prestige of the university. I loved being able to discuss with her our challenges of attending a research university and bonding over our struggles having professors who can't teach. I love our conversation and can't wait to talk to her more in the future.

Quota 18 (Eric): I doubled with Raina for our interview with Eric today. We began discussing our astrological signs and I declared myself the best sign since I am a Leo. We then moved on to discuss the challenges that we face pledging, to which he gave us some advice. He began to tell us about his experiences as Fundraising Chair since that is a position I hope to hold in the future. I really enjoyed the entirety of our conversation and look forward to getting to know Eric more in the future.

Quota 19 (Aneri): I doubled with Cya for our interview with Aneri. We discussed the challenges of the pledging process - which seems to be a common topic that I discuss with all actives during our interview since it is a universal experience for all members. I also really enjoyed hearing her discuss her love for law and her application process. Overall, I loved getting to talk to another woman of color in the fraternity and look forward to getting to know her more before she departs for law school.

Quota 20 (Peter): I had a double with Raina for my meeting with Peter. We discussed his challenges throughout his pledging process and his experiences now as an active. We also got to discuss his time as a Film & Television minor and the movies he would recommend the most to us based on the genres we enjoyed most. I was surprised at the amount of movies he has watched, but I wouldn't expect anything less of him because of his minor. My favorite part was discussing the strange stereotypes and characters of people who decide to study Film.

Quota 21 (Mira): I had a double with Korra for my meeting with Mira. We discussed some of the challenges of feeling pressured to have our studies/career plans picked out - but we all agreed that we are young and still have a lot of time to figure it out. She talked to us a bit about her housing plans for and seemed pretty excited to be in an apartment next year. By the way, she talked about her internship this summer, I could tell that she was clearly a very bright an intelligent individual - I look forward to getting to know her more in the future.

Quota 22 (Jacob): I interviewed Jacob at the study. We talked a bit about how the pledging process was so far for me and the challenges & successes I have endured. I asked him about how it was to be an active for a pledge class since he had rushed earlier this year - he has really enjoyed it thus far. I discussed with him a bit about his minor in Social Science Data and his major in Business Economics and how he has enjoyed his time within those majors.

Quota 23 (Ricky): I interviewed Ricky with a few other pledge brothers at the John Wooden Center. Like most of my other interviews, we started off by discussing our experiences in the pledging process thus far. I got to ask him what it was like as an active now that we are in person since all his previous pledge classes (with the exception of the Omis) had been online. We discussed a bit more about the gym and the types of workouts he enjoyed partaking in the most.

Quota 24 (Ria): I interviewed Ria today at Anderson Cafe. The majority of our conversation was spent discussing our love for policy and want for making systemic change. Since she also comes from a family of immigrants, we got to relate on how bad of a job the educational system does on educating its students in countries outside of the United States - and even when they do, it is often from a white colonial perspective. We also discussed the difference in opportunity based on where one grew up and what one looks like and how that can affect their future for the rest of their life. I enjoyed discussing her time within the Public Affairs & Sociology major and how she feels they have aided her in her journey to pursue law and policy. I loved being able to discuss her time on UCLA's Mock Trial team and hope to join it next year. Overall, my interview with her has been one of my favorites and I look forward to getting to know her more as I go on in the pledging process.

Quota 25 (Sophie Zane): I interviewed Sophie Zane. I got to speak with her about my hardships throughout the pledging process and how some of my pledge brothers have really boosted my morale in completing the process despite the tough times. She talked a bit about how she felt during her process, reminded me how close I was to finishing, and encouraged me to finish off strong. I really enjoyed getting to talk to her and look forward to getting o know her more in the future.

Quota 26 (Lilian): I interviewed Lilian. We spoke a lot about our family since we are both a part of TubTubs and I discussed hoping to grow the family if/when I cross. We discussed a lot about our cultural background and the challenges of being a woman of color at a predominantly white university & how we deal with those obstacles. I overall really enjoyed being able to discuss our similar interests and want to get to know her more throughout the rest of my pledging process.

Quota 27 (Taylor): I interviewed Taylor. It was really great being able to talk to someone who was studying Political Science since I have considered picking up that study as my second major. We also got to talk a lot about astrology and how much / how little we are into it - I personally declared Leos as one of the best but I get along really well with people of her sign. We also got to discuss her love for fashion a bit and what we thought were the best and worst parts of the clothing industry.

Quota 28 (Adrian): I interview Adrian at the Kerckoff Patio. We talked a lot about the stressors of the pledging process and how his transition was moving from a pledge to an active. He talked about how much he enjoyed finally being an active for an in-person class since every pledge class after his was online (with the exception of the Omi's and now the Pi's). I asked him why he decided to do membership education and how his experiences were holding other positions on the Kappa Alpha Pi Executive Board. I really enjoyed talking to him and look forward to getting to know him more in the future.

Quota 29 (Ale): I got to interview Ale. We began by talking about retreat since Leslie had introduced me to him briefly. We got to bond over the experiences of having immigrant parents and feeling "too American" for our home countries but too "ethnic" for America. We also got to bond over the challenges of attending a top university as a racial and ethnic minority andI enjoyed hearing how he combats those challenges through his involvement in extracurriculars that embraces those changes. I really enjoyed our conversation and his words & advice definitely boosted my morale in not only finishing the pledging process, but also completing my degree at a PWI.
