Quota 30 (Adrineh): I got the chance to interview Adrineh. I really enjoyed getting to know what the pledging process was like for her when she was a pledge several years ago and comparing it to my experience as a pledge now. It surprised me how many similarities there are in our professional frat experiences and our conversation made me realize that everyone goes through the same challenges and stressors throughout their rush / pledging process, including alumni - which was really comforting to hear. We talked a bit more about her time at UCLA and discussed how my first year has been thus far. I overall really enjoyed our conversation and hope to get to talk with her more again in the future.

Quota 31 (Caline): I got the chance to interview with Caline. I got to talk with her a lot about the pledging process - which is a pretty common discussing topic in my interviews since I enjoy hearing about other people's experiences during their pledging. Unlike any of my other interviews, I got to talk to her a lot about the Big/Little process. She told me about her reasoning behind wanted to get a little and I got to talk to about why I did not want to pick up a little next quarter but and possibly interested in a A Little since I do not feel like I have that much experience in the frat thus far. We discussed a lot about our majors, I and go to explain my reasoning behind wanting to pursue a degree in Public Affairs and a job in policy.

Quota 32 (Alexis): I got the chance to be able to interview Alexis. Alexis and I talked a lot about our career and life goals - we are both interested in traveling and getting to learn about other cultures and ways of life first hand. I got to discuss how much I wanted to visit the various islands in the Caribbean and Alexis discusses the various states and country's they yearned to visit. Like every other interview, of course we discussed our favorite and least favorite parts of the pledging process, and Alexis told me a lot about how the skills we learn here will help tremendously in our future endeavors - especially email ettiqute, professionalism, and how to hold a conversation. I really appreciated our conversation - it has really boosted my morale in finishing off the rest of my pledging.

Quota 33 (Sofy): I got the opportunity to be able to talk to Sofy - I genuinely feel like I have learned throughout our conversation. I got to talk to her a lot about her various legal internships and roles. She told me a lot about how oftentimes, internships teach you more about what you DONT want to do when going into law - which is just as important as learning about what you WANT to within that field. I also got to discuss with her about her different roles on executive board since I hope to one day hold a position if/when I cross. She gave me a lot of invite to the transition from pledge to active and how that experience was for her.

Quota 34 (Saba): I met Saba at the fountain near Royce today. We talked a lot about the immigrant experience and the isolating feeling of not having any family in America. We also talked a lot about growing up with parents who's first language was not English and further discussed how about how hard it must be to immigrate here since I have had the privilege to be born within this country. When Abby arrived for our double, we then go on to discuss the places we have traveled to our our frustrations going to UCLA.

Quota 35 (Anita): I got the chance to meet with Anita. We discussed a lot about our experiences being a woman of color at a predominately white university. I confided in her on my struggles with the isolating feeling of being the only Black individual in almost all of my class and extracurriculars - since she had more experience at this school, she gave me a lot of advice. I got to confide in her a lot about my stressors of pledging and how hard it is to manage all of these responsibilities in addition to my class. She gave me so much advice to navigating the remainder of my pledging process and encouraged me to finish strong.

Quota 36 (Megan): I got the chance to talk with Megan today - we decided to go into Westwood and shop at Target and Trader Joes. We talked a lot about the inequalities that UCLA still holds despite being known to be a "liberal" and "leftist" school. She talked a lot about her Public Affairs class and how much they discuss these inequalities - which made me really interested in those same upper divisions. I really enjoyed getting to talk with her about her experiences as a Big and her reasoning behind wanting to get a Little. I was surprised to find out that her A Big was my Grand Big and we joked how we are "related". I really enjoyed my interview with her and hope to get to know her more in the future.

Quota 37 (Micheal): I interviewed Michael Nazar - a current UCLA & Kappa Alpha Pi Alumni. Like most of my other interviews, we talked a lot about the pledging process. It is always suprsing for me to hear how similar my pledge experience is to individuals who have pledges years ago - which brings me comfort to be honest. We also talked about our post-grad plans, I told him about my interest in working in criminal law but how I ultimately want to pursue a career in policy since that is where systemic change is made.

Quota 38 (Connie): I interviewed Connie. We talked a lot about her major since it differs from a lot of the other actives in Kappa Alpha Pi since she decided to pursue a STEM-heavy major. Although I am currently a Public Affairs major, I have considered picking up Cognitive Science as an additional double major, so hearing about her experiences in the study thus far was pretty beneficial. Additionally, I got to talk a bit to her about her time as an A Big since that is something I hope to do next quarter if/when I cross.

Quota 39 (Matthew): I got to interview my Grand Big, Matthew. We talked a lot about Public Affairs - he is almost complete with his degree so I thought it would be beneficial to discuss his experiences within the major since I just switched into it this quarter. We also talked a lot about our goals and plans for next year. He told me about his future living arrangements with his close friends in Kappa Alpha Pi, which he seemed pretty excited about. I overall really enjoyed our interview and can't wait to get to know him more in the future.

Quota 41 (Elaine): I got the chance to interview Elaine. We talked a lot about my time and experiences as a pledge and the parts I love/hate about the process. We also got to discuss our shared interest in working in policy since we both recognize the numerous inequalities many policies perpetuate onto BIPOC individuals. Lastly, we discussed our shared interest in zodiac signs and how fire signs are really the best of them all (emphasis on Leos).
