Quota #5: I met Ian at Kerckhoff Patio today and we talked about a bunch of different things. I got to hear about his family background and his relationship with his brothers. He also told me about how excited he is about his upcoming job in New York this summer, and his time spent living in Chinatown by himself in the past. He mentioned his desire to travel, and how he would really like to go to Taiwan next spring quarter if he graduates early. I really enjoyed talking to Ian, and hope to be able to talk to him more soon!

Quota #5: I interviewed Jacob today. We talked about his experience growing up in Canada and my experience living in Italy. I had also heard about his stint in the Young Film Critics Club in high school, so I got to hear about all of the movies he critiqued. He also told me about how he really got into working out during his time at UCLA after taking physical science 5, which I thought was really interesting. We also talked about his membership in the Bruin Law and Investing Society because as a Business Economics major, I was intrigued in finding out more about the club.

Quota #5: I interviewed Lillan today also. Because she is a member of my family, I was particularly excited to meet with her as we have not had the chance to speak much since meeting at retreat. We talked about her electrical engineering major quite a bit, as one of my best friends is in that major so I know how hard the workload can be. Additionally, we discussed her family's recent move to Ohio and how they like it so far because my family and I also lived in Ohio when I was younger. However, I did not really have much to contribute to my experience there because I was around 3 years old when I lived there, but it was cool to hear about how close her family is now to where I lived. Furthermore, we also talked about dying her hair because I am about to dye mine and wanted to hear if she had any regrets about dying hers.

Quota #5: I also interviewed Ale today. I learned a lot of interesting things about him, like how he is a part of the founding line of the LUL fraternity on campus, and that he has a little brother that just got accepted to UCLA. We talked a lot about both of our little brothers and how proud Ale is of his and how I think mine is also destined for great things. It was also interesting to hear about how the LUL fraternity got started, as I have always wondered how campus fraternities form. We also discussed our summer plans, and I was super interested to find out that he is going to six Latin American countries this summer! I had a great time talking to him and hope to be able to speak with him again soon!

Quota #5: I also talked to Matthew today. I was really looking forward to our interview because he is my grand-big and I really enjoyed talking to him on the car ride back from retreat. We talked about his involvement in the Bruin Ambassadors Program, and his positive things to say made me really consider looking into it next year. We also discussed what his favorite food places are in LA, and he told me a really funny story about his most embarrassing moment that involved his work at a boba shop in the mall. I also told him a lot of my embarrassing work stories. I feel like the worst things always happen to you at your job. He also told me a little bit about his own pledging experience and one of his favorite memories with Adrian. I really enjoyed my interview with Matthew and am excited to talk to him more at our family dinner coming up!

Quota 5: I interviewed Saba today outside of Kerckhoff. She bought me some hot chocolate, which was really nice of her to do, and a good drink on a semi-cold day like this. We talked about both of our experiences in applying to UCLA, and she told me how she is trying to convince her brother to apply here. Although my younger brother is only a freshman in high school currently, I plan on doing the same thing with him. We also talked about how we both went to Hawaii last year, and how much we both enjoyed it. I was jealous to hear that she got to stay for 2 whole weeks. I really liked talking to Saba and hope to talk more with her again soon!

Quota 6: I interviewed Naomi today, and I really enjoyed our conversation. We talked a lot about both being from out of state, and how differently we perceive UCLA compared to those who grew up in California. We also complained about the flights back and dealing with the airport every time we return to school. Furthermore, she told me about her past role of helping create the rush videos for Kappa Alpha Pi, and how she really enjoyed it because she got to be the one to basically introduce all of the potential incoming members to what Kappa Alpha Pi is. Because we both love Rihanna, we also talked about her music and if we think Rihanna is ever going to produce another album, and her baby with ASAP Rocky.

Quota 6: I interviewed Loren today. Most of our conversation was taken up entirely by discussing shopping, which is a bad habit I have. I told her about my recent obsession with Aritzia, and how I spent a fat stack of money on business pants there, but I rationalized it by saying I have been using them every week during pledging. Loren also really likes Aritzia, so we talked a lot about some of our favorite pieces from there. I also told her about my most recent shopping trip, and how I bought my first pair of Nike dunks and also bought a bunch of hair products in order to take care of my dyed hair. I really enjoyed talking to Loren, and hope to be able to again soon!

Quota 6: I also interviewed Aman today. I had heard Aman is a really big sneaker head, so we talked a lot about what his favorite shoes are, and his experience in selling shoes online. Furthermore, told me about what he did to prepare for the LSAT during the winter quarter, and even though I still have a while before I take it, I feel more prepared with his advice. We also talked a little bit about Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, as we were both members of those organizations growing up and did some similar activities in them.

Quota 6: I talked with Caroline and hung out with her yesterday, which as always was really fun. Because I just dyed my hair, she took me to the mall to buy me the products I need to take care of it, which was really nice of her. We also spent an ungodly amount of time in Aritzia trying stuff on just to not buy any of it, but my bank account is grateful for that one. I also was convinced by Caroline to get UCLA blue Nike dunks, which I'm really excited about. Since we are both in the same panhellenic sorority, we went and got our nails done for our upcoming formal after, and I got to experience Caroline's first pedicure with her. When we came back to campus, we went to B plate and had some of the really good cheesecake bites from there. I always enjoy spending time with Caroline, and can't wait to hang out with her again.

Quota 6: I interviewed Mira today, and really liked our conversation. We talked a lot about Mira's physics major, and I was particularly interested in her research on how humans percieve 3D vision. Although I could never be a Physics major, this is a topic I always wondered about when I was a kid so it was interesting to hear where Mira's research has led her. Furthermore, because we both have younger brothers, we talked a lot about them and our families in general. Although Mira's brother is a couple of years older than mine, it was still nice to discuss their similarities and the relationships we have with them and our other family members.

Quota 6: I also got the chance to interview Taylor today. As I am maybe interested in attending law school in New York City, she told me about her extended family members that practice law there now and their experience. We also talked about her minor in Entrepreneurship, as I am interested in doing the Entrepreneurship project for Bruin Women in Business next quarter. Further, as I am just getting into astrology Taylor told me a lot about what she knows about it and I talked to her about our astrology theme for Active Appreciation.

Quota 6: I interviewed Ria today, and found out we have a lot of similarities. I learned that she likes baking for fun, which I do too. She really likes baking bread, which I plan on trying this summer once I actually have access to a kitchen. We also talked about both being from out of state, and how it was definitely an adjustment when we came to UCLA for school. I also got to hear about her mock trial experience, which made me even more interested in looking into joining the UCLA mock trial team.

Quota 6: I also interviewed Jason Cheng, an alumnus of Kappa Alpha Pi. We talked a lot about his current job as an environmental consultant, and as someone who wants to learn more about sustainability and protecting the environment, I was very interested in hearing what he does. I have become more interested in this line of work after taking a class on climate change this quarter. He also told me a lot about his days of pledging for Kappa Alpha Pi, and it was cool to hear about what his own mock trial was like.

Quota 6: I interviewed Ishan today, and we talked about a lot of different things. He told me about his upbringing on the East Coast, as that is one area of the country I have not been able to visit. We also talked about his finance intern job under a congressman, and the upcoming job he is about to take when he graduates. Working under a congressman or political candidate is something I would love to have the opportunity to do one say, so I definitely enjoyed hearing about his experience working for Gil Cisneros.
