Quota #1: I started off my interviewing process with talking to Akunnia, and I loved hearing what she had to say. We talked in depth about places we have traveled to, and she told me about a specific time where she went on a less than ideal family trip to Australia and how she and her family lost multiple bags at the airport. We also discussed the jobs she has had in the past and the job she currently holds as a part of blueprint LSAT prep. It was interesting to hear about her experience as a pre-law student specifically from a third-year position as well as to hear what advice she had for someone like myself who is just starting off on the pre-law track. I also thoroughly enjoyed talking about our similar music taste and hearing about all of the people she has gone to see in concert. Jealous is definitely an understatement. I am so fortunate to have started off my interviewing process with Akunnia and hope that I get to talk and bond with her more in the future.

Quota #1: I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Nathan, as it seems like we lead relatively similar lives in regards to our family, our music taste, and our thoughts on school. We discussed both of our families' connections to the military (his brother is in the marine core and my dad was in the air force) and talked about how each of these things has impacted us. Further, we talked about our indecisiveness on major and minor selection, and he had a few words of wisdom for me on what he believes would be a good subject to double major or double minor in. I appreciated this as sometimes I feel as though I have no idea what I am doing, and hearing what another person thinks about my situation is definitely helpful. We also did a deep dive into his Spotify account and discussed our favorite musical artists. It's not every day that I meet someone who is willing to have a discussion with me on how to rank the Taylor Swift albums, so I am definitely grateful for my conversation with him. I had such a good time talking to Nathan, and I hope to be able to talk again with him like this in the future.

Quota #1: I met Aya at 9:30 this morning for our interview in Sproul's 6th-floor lounge. We first discussed UCLA radio's application process, and how she was committed enough to go through the process multiple times in order to land a radio host position. We also talked about how she balances this with Kappa Alpha Pi and her other extracurriculars. She gave me some new movie recommendations to watch, such as Midsummer, Hereditary, and Everything Everywhere All At Once, which I will be watching as soon as I go home to an actual TV to watch them on. We then talked about what led her to UCLA, and what she might have changed in her college application process. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to her about the butterfly effect and discussing how all of the choices in our life affect where we are now.

Quota #1: I interviewed Megan today while we were talking to target together, and found that we share many similarities. We both think that Delta and Already Best Friends on Jack Harlow's newest released album are the best songs on it and that you should try every scent of body wash once. Megan also gave me lots of advice on whether or not to switch my major, which I have been debating for a while now. She has inspired me to look further into public affairs, as it incorporates both policy and economy. We also discussed her recent trip to Las Vegas, her close relationship with all of her roommates, and how she has an unplanned third roommate, her second roommate's lacrosse stick.

Quota #1: I interviewed Chanel at 3:30 pm today by the Sunset Rec tables, where we talked about a plethora of different things. She told me a little bit about her internship at Clarkson Legal Firm, and how it was a convenient way to earn legal experience as the work is remote. We also talked about our shared love for traveling, and her trip with multiple other actives to Greece last summer. This led to a conversation regarding her love for cats, and how she met a cat named Mumu while she was in Greece that she absolutely loved. After hearing about her love for cats, I told her about this place called the CatCafe in Westwood where you can go and hang out with foster cats while drinking the coffee of your choice. We also touched on her close relationship with her parents, and her wish that she had siblings even if it meant arguing with them. I really enjoyed talking to Chanel, and hope I am able to talk to her more in the future.

Quota #2: I met Anita this morning at 10 am on Kerckhoff Patio. I remembered hearing from rush that Anita was a transfer student, and so we discussed the community college she had gone to before she came to UCLA as well as the obstacles that many transfer students face that not that many people talk about. I also learned that Anita is a huge traveler and has not only been to 50 states but also to Greece, Costa Rica, and she plans to go to Spain. It was so interesting hearing about all of the things she has done throughout her travels. We also talked about the struggles of maintaining a private space for yourself while living with roommates, and the importance of picking people as roommates that you know you will really get along with. I really enjoyed talking to Anita, and hope I can learn more about her in the future!

Quota #2: I met Cia this morning at Rende West at 11 am. We had our interview over a nice lunch of a burrito and a burrito bowl, and I got to hear a lot about the social chair position and the responsibilities it entails. We discussed the social chairs planning of this past retreat, and all of the elements the social chairs have to consider when putting on this event. For example, I learned that in order for a spot to be chosen for retreat, it has to have more than ten beds and be less than two and a half hours away. Cia also detailed to me the somewhat unusual circumstance that led to her being elected social chair as a first-year, and how grateful she is to hold the position. We also discussed her internship experience, and it is safe to say Cia has inspired me to look into possible remote internships I could hold over this summer.

Quota #2: I met Isabella at De Neve crossing at 1:30 today. We walked down to Kerkhoff, got coffee, and went to go sit outside. I had a great time talking to Isabella, as we had a lot of similar interests. She told me about her position at the daily bruin, which is something I am interested in applying to next quarter. We also talked about our similar music tastes and the expensiveness of music festivals. Additionally, Isabella told me about what home in New York is like and detailed a memorable experience that she had with her friend where they were able to watch a falling meteor shower. My interview with Isabella felt more like a conversation than an interview, which I liked because I felt like I was just having a conversation with a friend. I really enjoyed talking to Isabella, and I hope I get to talk to her more in the future.

Quota #2: I met Elaine in the 8th floor Sproul Cove Lounge. As one of the few people who lived on campus last year, Elaine detailed the differences between last year and this year and how different her pledging process was due to it being virtual. We also discussed our current roommate situations and how we both get along pretty well with ours, which is nice as we've both heard lots of roommate horror stories from other people. Additionally, we talked about Elaine's board position as a historian when she was a pledge as well as her position on the executive board now. I'm glad I got to know Elaine a little bit better, particularly because we are in the same family. I'm excited to see and talk to her again at family dinner tonight.

Quota #2: I met with Maxine at 3:00 today on Kerckhoff patio. I really enjoyed my conversation with Max because we talked about a lot of important topics. We discussed UCLA and the administration, Max's upbringing, and how Covid has impacted both Max and the UCLA campus as a whole. I found out that both Max and I have military dads, with her dad being in the marines and my dad being in the Air Force. We also detailed social movements that we are passionate about and the things we did in support of these social movements during quarantine.

Quota #2: I met with Mihir at 4:45 on the study. I found out that we are both from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and that we only live around an hour away from each other. We also talked about the different dining options on the hill, and Mihir detailed to me all of the things that were available pre-Covid, like Cafe 1919 and Late night at De Neve. He also offered me advice on my major, as I told him that I switched from Political Science to Business Economics and how I might be switching back. I really enjoyed talking to Mihir, especially because we had not really been able to talk before today.

Quota #2: I met with Zz at 12:30 at Kerckhoff Patio today. As one of the social chairs on the executive board, we discussed a lot about the position including the length of the position, Zz's favorite part of the position, and why they chose to ask Cia to become a co-chair with them when their previous co-chair stepped down. We also discussed Zz's involvement in sexperts, and how they are involved in producing several shows on campus even outside of the Sexperts organization, which I was very impressed by. Further, Zz detailed to me what their upbringing was like and even told me a funny story about meeting Jeffree Star at a Whataburger in Texas. I really enjoyed talking to Zz, and I hope I get more chances to talk to them soon.

Quota #3: I met Micah by Janss steps at 11:30 this morning. Because Janss lawn was wet, we walked over to Kerckhoff instead. Micah and I talked a lot about the pledge process and what her experience was like as AVPR and VPR. From hearing about her experience, I was able to see these positions in a new light. We also discussed our hobbies, things we picked up during quarantine, and where we want to travel in the future. Micah told me about her upcoming trip to Ethiopia, and how she is excited to be able to connect with her mom's side of the family more and immerse herself more into the language. I had a great time talking to Micah, and hope to be able to talk to her more before she graduates.

Quota #3: I interviewed Hanna today at 11. I met her outside of Sproul Cove and we walked down to Starbucks together. We talked a lot about the pledging process and the different positions we held or are currently holding as pledges. Hanna also described the positions she holds on the Executive and Junior Executive Board now, and her favorite parts of the position. She also detailed to me the study program she did in Spain and her roommate horror story there, and we talked about how we are both grateful we have such good roommates now. I really enjoyed talking to Hanna (and eating the pumpkin loaf at Starbucks) and hope to talk to her more soon!

Quota #3: I interviewed Peter today at 1 pm by the Physics and Astronomy building. We talked about the merits and demerits of taking a gap year, the kinds of classes he is enrolled in as a Film and Television major, and his desire to go someplace new for graduate school as he has lived in California his whole life. He also told me about his plan to work on a boat during his gap year and travel along the Mediterranean, going to places all over Europe. I thought this was a really refreshing take on what he plans to do during his year off, as a lot of people intend to work at a law firm. I really enjoyed getting to know Peter more, as we had not had the chance to talk much before this interview.
